Description
Whilst the term “Grosser” is unofficial, it is oft used as the designation for Mercedes’ flagship 600 range, that was designed to supersede the W189 Adenaeur in 1964. Production of these cars totaled 2677 units, and it is hard to define the car without mention of its multiple celebrity and political ownerships, stretching from Bowie and Herbert Von Karajan, through to Idi Amin and Kim Jong-un.
The 600 is the icon of hand-made Mercedes Luxury models that cut above the traditional S-Class standards of luxury and innovation, and featured hydraulic, self-levelling air suspension, hydraulic adjustment of the seats, operation of the door locks and even the boot release. It would be remiss in any description of the model to go without mentioning the legendary M100, 6.3 litre V8 that lives under its bonnet.
