Description

Sold new from WH Lowe in 1973 to Mr Ian Cotter, this coupe remained in his hands for 42 years, until it went into the hands of the current owner seven years ago.

Many a verse has been written about the Daytona, starting with the attitudes that Ferrari were stuck in the dark ages, continuing to build front-engined GTs where Lamborghini had innovated with the Miura, with its transverse amidships V12. It is though, without question one of Ferrari’s most famous cars. Notably a car that needs to be tamed, or man-handled for it to give its best, it comes into its own at speed, and it spawned a competition version that saw victory long after its production life had come to an end. It may well have been the last truly, hairy-chested and fearsome front-engined car from Maranello. It might even have been long in the tooth, but it is nothing if not an icon to represent all the great and the good of Ferrari, who built racing cars first, and road cars second.
