Description

Delage was a French luxury automobile and race-car company founded in 1905 by Louis Delage. The Type G of 1908 was the only Delage of the period to be fitted with a twin cylinder De Dion Bouton engine. All previous cars were fitted with singles. The Twin cylinder was fitted by Delage himself in an effort to win the Coupe des Voiturettes of that year by entering three factory prepared cars. However, the race was one by a privateer who entered a modified single cylinder, much to his disgust. After this humiliation, no more twin cylinders were fitted, making any surviving twin cylinders exceedingly rare cars.
