Description

This Mercedes Roadster was purchased at a Bonhams Goodman auction in Sydney in 2005. It underwent a 3 year restoration and the first event it attended was the Classic Adelaide in 2009. Thereafter the Targa Tasmania in 2012. In 2015 the car went to the USA to participate in the Gullwing Group rally from LA to Banff where it was snowing. The 300 SL is a very reliable sports car and is capable of up to 150 miles per hour. It was the fastest road car at the time and was ahead of its time with direct fuel injection, dry sump and “Gullwings” were often successfully raced straight off the showroom floor. The owners of this vehicle have covered more than 30,000kms in 12 years making it possibly the highest travelled 300SL in the country.
