Description
The development of the Carrera GT can be traced back to the 911 GT1 and LMP1-98 racing cars. Mainly due to changes made by the FIA, both development streams had thus come to an end. Having originally been intended to utilise a turbocharged flat-six of evolutionary 911 origin, the engine that finally came to power the car was a water-cooled V10, that Porsche had developed for the Footwork F1 team. The arrangement had never come to fruition, but the engine was developed and reliable and made sense for the application. The final application of the engine for the road car, was in 5.7 litre form, with four valves per cylinder, developing 603 horsepower and 590Nm of Torque.
This car, in GT Silver metallic – one of only five colour options offered, including Bassalt Black, Seal Grey, Fayance Yellow and Guards Red, was delivered new in the US in 2004, and it is #385 out of a total production run of 1270 cars.
